Jersey Shore
I love revisiting places that brought me joy as a child, like the local carnivals where I remember carrying around my prized tiny goldfish in a bag or the candy color boardwalks with endless fun flashing lights. A few years ago my husband, Nick Millevoi, took me on a trip to his childhood shore town, Wildwood New Jersey, and i've never been the same since. The bright eclectic colors, mid-century architecture and signage, faux palm trees, surrey bikes, and the endless boardwalk of Wildwood has become my Doo-wop dreamland. It turns out this was also my Grandmother's favorite childhood beach as well. I visit every chance I get, even off season, trying to capture every last ounce of it's splendor on 35mm film. Within this body of work I utilize experimental film and manual double exposure techniques to highlight the architectural features of the Jersey Shore that bring me joy.
